About Pioneer Productions...

Pioneer Productions is one of the UK’s most successful independent television production companies. It has developed an outstanding reputation for producing innovative, high quality and popular programmes for both the UK and US markets. Our investment in nurturing creative and editorial skills has meant the company continues to attract the leading on and off-screen talent.

Since 1988, Pioneer Productions has provided the global television market with over 500 hours of award winning programming. Recent successes in docu-drama and history production have expanded on a rich back-catalogue spanning the geological, science and technology and current affairs genres.

Early on, the company began to forge close relationships with US factual television broadcasters, supporting a growth trend in transatlantic media collaboration. In the 90’s Pioneer sought to document the extreme in series such as Raging Planet and Extreme Machines as well as developing the latest special effects used in series such as Body Atlas.

The new century saw the company continue to progress, creating pure CGI films such as Journey to the Edge of the Universe and combing life-like CGI with dramas and drama-docs such as in The Unsinkable Titanic and Hindenburg.

Today, Pioneer continues to use cutting edge filming and effects techniques to maintain an innovative approach towards television, evident in programmes such as Extraordinary Animals in the Womb and Catastrophe.

The company’s achievements have been recognised throughout the media world. Awards at the Emmys and Royal Television Society accompany a Grand Award at the New York Television Festival, a UK Indie award, a Sony award together with success at Cine Golden Eagles, and prizes in France, Italy, US and Greece. In addition, Pioneer is the only independent company to win the coveted Best Science Film at the Banff TV festival.
